Termatch ("the app", "we") is a Shopify app that improves a store's own search with synonyms and SKU search. This policy explains what the app collects when a merchant installs it, and what we do with that data. Termatch is the trading name we operate under; questions go to termatch.support@gmail.com.
What we collect
From the merchant's store, through the Shopify Admin API
Shop domain, the installed plan and the app settings you choose.
Product IDs, handles, titles, product types, vendors, tags and variant SKUs. We use these to add and remove the app's own hidden product tags (_syn-…, _sku-…) and to show results in the app.
Theme settings, read only, to check whether the theme shows product tags and whether the app embed is switched on. The app never edits theme files.
About the store owner
The store's name, owner/contact email address and time zone, read only when a weekly summary email is due. The email address is not stored in our database. Weekly emails are currently not being sent.
From storefront search (paid plans, only if search recording is switched on in the app and the shopper has allowed analytics through Shopify's Customer Privacy API)
The search words, the day, and whether the search returned results, was matched by a synonym, or jumped to an exact SKU, added to an aggregate daily count per word.
We do not store any shopper name, email, customer ID, IP address, device or browser details, cookies, session IDs or order data. Search words that look like an email address or phone number are dropped. Without the shopper's consent nothing is recorded.
What we use it for
Making the store's search show the right products (synonym groups, SKU search, strict search).
Showing search numbers inside the app (Home summary and, on Pro, the Analytics page).
Sharing
We don't sell data. We share it only with service providers that run the app for us, under their data processing terms:
UpCloud: server and database, London, UK.
Cloudflare: network proxy and TLS in front of the server; it passes requests through and does not store app data.
Resend: sends the weekly summary email (when enabled). Resend stores email content and logs in the United States; transfers are covered by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses with the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, and the EU-US Data Privacy Framework with its UK Extension.
Retention and deletion
Search counts are deleted automatically after 90 days.
When you uninstall, background work stops straight away. Shopify sends us a shop/redact request 48 hours later, and we then delete all data we hold for your store.
The app's tags live in your store. Use Settings › Before you uninstall › Remove all synonyms and SKU tags to remove them before uninstalling; after uninstall the app can no longer edit your store.
Customer data and erasure requests (customers/data_request, customers/redact): we hold no personal data about your customers, so there is nothing to return or delete.
Your rights
Merchants can ask for a copy of, or deletion of, their store's data at any time through termatch.support@gmail.com. If you are in the UK or EEA you can also complain to your data protection authority (in the UK, the ICO).
